In A World Of Human Wreckage—–GUILTY PLEASURES

GUILTY PLEASURES part two (late 90s and early 2000s)

Here is the latest installment of Guilty Pleasures and this involves the late 90s and early 2000s. This was around the time I had just gotten married and had my first kid, a boy so I was going through some serious life issues and music helped me through. We also moved from New Orleans to Houston which was a HUGE move for me. Some of these songs ROCK and some you might hate but remember they are MY choices and all have some kind of meaning in my life……many bands such as Slipknot, Disturbed, Foo Fighters & INCUBUS are missing, but here are TWO awesome songs:

INCUBUS – Privilege (1999)

Disturbed – Rise (2002)

…..and while I am not very big on the post grunge/alternative metal of this time….there are some gems here….ROCK THE FUCK ON!!

After those two here are some fucking UNDERRATED CLASSICS by Days Of The New, Audiovent and Dishwalla…

Days Of The New – The Downtown (1997)

Audiovent – The Energy (2002)

Dishwalla – Charlie’s Brown Parents (1995)

The song NO ONE heard due to “Counting Blue Cars” being on all the time…

the next song has HUGE meaning in my life….lost my dad in 1996 and was in love with future wife when I heard this…..fantastic song….

Dishwalla – Once In A While (1998)

Which leads me to …..

OK so I just started the job I am in currently but I was traveling every two weeks away from home for two weeks at a time. Very lonely and heard this one night and it just grabbed me…..say what you want about these two song….they fucking rock.

Fall Out Boy – Dance, Dance (2005)

Fall Out Boy – “Thnks fr th Mmrs” (2007)

Just a couple of fucking phenomenal songs by the band Cold….not to be confused with the band The Cold from New Orleans….

Cold is KEY and this why….ENJOY!

Cold – No One (2000)

Right before I moved from New Orleans to Houston, I heard this at someone’s house which was lost in Katrina and this song reminds me of that house STILL…

Cold – Stupid Girl (2003)

and here is a remix of a song named “Cold” by the band Crossfade….I like this one MUCH BETTER….go figure…if you heard the original

Crossfade – Cold (DeeTown Remix feat. Miss Eighty Six)

Next is a fucking classic by House of Pain remixed by Smashing Pumpkins “Gish” producer and Nirvana’s “Nevermind”…this is ONLY on reissues of the album released in 1992….good luck finding it…..FUCKING JAM!!!!

House Of Pain – Shamrocks And Shenanigans (Boom Shalock Lock Boom / Butch Vig Remix)

I had to post this…..I think of House Of Pain and Everlast is FUCKING AMAZING…..this song never gets old….
Everlast – What It’s Like (1998)

Chevelle – I Get It (2004)

I have always liked the sound of Trapt……They just have a different sound than other bands in this time frame

Trapt – Still Frame (2001)

Trapt – These Walls (2001)

NO CLUE why I like this next song I just heard it at a festival and it stuck…its just one of those songs…..hate the band love the song…..oh well

hoobastank – Out Of Control (2003)

I’ve done everything as you say
I’ve followed your rules without question

the next band you either love or hate due to their being so erratic but to watch them LIVE is fucking sick and there is no denying they can play…..I put TWO versions of the song because the FIRST has SICK guitar but lame crowd (listen for the echoes at 1:20)…..the SECOND the crowd goes fucking bonkers which is good.

System Of A Down – Chop Suey (LIVE at Lowlands 2001)

System Of A Down – Chop Suey (LIVE at Big Day Out)

System Of A Down – Cigaro (LIVE at Big Day Out)

and just listen to the changes in these next two…..its fucking out there….very underrated band
System Of A Down – BYOB (LIVE on MTV)

System Of A Down – Question! (LIVE)

My son loves this song and having to hear it every day at his age of 4….It kind of hooked on me….good tune

Breaking Benjamin – The Diary Of Jane (2006)

When I first heard this band I immediately thought of tool as they sound eerily similar but not really…..GREAT GREAT BAND and this video is one of the best EVER….no joke

10 years – Wasteland (2004)

10 Years – Beautiful (2008)

Marliyn Manson – The Beautiful People (1996)

Say what you want about this song…..this is just a phenomenal song on so many levels…..very good stuff

Three Days Grace – Pain (2006)

Seeing Corey Taylor from Slipknot in this form is just amazing…..

Stone Sour – Through Glass (2006)

and the REAL VIDEO….REAL good
Stone Sour – Through Glass (2006)

These last few songs are CONSTANTS in my library as they are so fucking good they just never get old…..and you can see why….EVERY time I hear them I turn them up and go fucking crazy looney tunes….

Monster Magnet – Powertrip (1998)

If you are not moving after this… need fucking help

Seven Mary Three are one of the most underrated bands of the 90s…

This song is LIVE but the album version KICKS FUCKING ASS

Seven Mary Three – My My (Live) (1995)

and I realize its from 1994 but its one of the best songs of the 90s bar none

Sponge – Plowed (1994)

I FUCKING LOVE OUR LADY PEACE….and Raine Maida’s voice is just out there….GREAT!!

Our Lady Peace – One Man Army (1999)

and I had to post these next two as they are just FUCKING AWESOME ……..

VAST – Touched (1998)

This is from 2007 but every time I hear this song I find a new reason to like it…

Parov Stelar – Love (2007)
