RIP DON CORNELIOUS

RIP DON CORNELIOUS

“The Hippest Trip In America”

I think these videos ALL speak for themselves.  The evolution of MUSIC especially soul, hip-hop, rap and pop ALL should thank Soul Train which paved the way for MTV, BET and so on…..this is where you FIRST saw your favorite songs being performed along with the hottest dancing & clothing trends.  Every Saturday morning after cartoons and when I got older working at Jack’s Grill in Baton Rouge, LA we watched as we came in out of the kitchen waiting tables and jammed with the cooks.

When I was in radio in New Orleans, I worked for Old School 102.9 fm and every song we played is listed down below.  The music is timeless and without Soul Train we would be only hearing of Elton John and The Eagles (THANK GOD FOR THAT)

I guarantee NO ONE like Nicki Minaj or Lil Wayne would have made it to Soul Train.

I posted the many looks of Don throughout the years…..and always ahead of the musical curve….

CLASSICS ONLY!!!!

and while some of these songs by Teena Marie and Young MC are not SOUL classics, they are classics in pop culture and that is what the Soul Train was all about.

God bless Don Cornelius for all he did for the black community and the music scne. Teena Marie’s “Lover Girl” was a soul and pop CLASSIC. Point blank. He helped introduce Teena to the world when she sang “Sucker For Love” with Rick James.
