“M.C. Adam Yauch in the place to be
And all the girls are on me cause I’m down with Mike D.”
So if you watched last night’s MTV Video Music Awards you noticed a few important things. Barack Obama moved his speech at the Democratic Convention so the younger generation would watch. The show was 2 hours long and crammed if you watched it. It felt hurried. Because of this, they gave a 10 second tribute with JUST a picture of Adam Yauch, aka MCA of the Beastie Boys, after dying earlier this year. MTV quickly forgot MCA and the Beastie Boys are one of the most influential and pioneers in both rap and MTV. So why 10 seconds. I guess Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz were more important. So I will give a small but fitting tribute to the Beastie Boys the way it should have been done.
And one thing you will notice is they perform live better than any other rap group…..never the same….WOW!!!!RIP Adam you were and still are a legend and an inspiration
Beastie Boys – Shake Your Rump (Live Amsterdam)
They should have done this last night with an allstar tribute then at least show a video of them performing.
Beastie Boys – (w/ P Diddy at VH1 Rap Honors)
Beastie Boys – “Ch-Check It Out” (Live Letterman ’04)
Beastie Boys – Chappelle Show
Beastie Boys – “Sucker MC’s” (Live)
Beastie Boys – “Sure Shot” (Live in Amsterdam)
Beastie Boys – “Brass Monkey” (Live Madison Square Garden)
I am STILL irritated that right after the AWFUL performance by Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz where they curse (have to be beeped out) almost the entire time but then mumble the rest all while wearing pants down past their asses to show the masses their underwear.
NOTE: In prison this was a sign you are gay yet hip hop artists and dumb kids think this is cool.
I quote Darryl Sterdan of the Toronto Sun, “If 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne’s uninspired and amateurish rendition of Yuck was meant to represent the cream of the crop of current hip-hop, we’ll wait for the next big thing, thanks.”
and LAST BUT NOT LEAST…..
