ALBUMS THAT HAVE STAYED WITH ME…..FOREVER

THE LIST OF ALBUMS THAT HAVE STAYED WITH ME…….from the day that I first heard them to the day you are reading this blog….and I promise you they will be with me…FOREVER

Today on Facebook someone sent me this:

“Rules: in your status update, list 10 albums (not in any order) that have stayed with you over the years in some way. Don’t take too long on this list – just a few minutes, tops. These don’t need to be “great” records, just records that have meant something to you personally. Then tag ten (or more!) other friends, including me so that I’ll see your list. I chose people who I thought would go along. If I didn’t choose you, and you’re interested, by all means respond.”
WELL I tried and had 10 albums from just the 90s so I figured I would do this by periods in my life.  And maybe once in a while I will toss in a story to show you why.

Also, I am putting the album covers next to all of them because they are just amazing album covers or REALLY special to me …..and some of these I have framed at my house

ALSO, the bigger the album picture the bigger influence it had on my life….so there

ALSO, to make this easier lets get the OBVIOUS out of the way.

The following 15 albums that EVERYONE should have in their library.  And there was a time where I was convinced that the record companies were mailing these to everyone because EVERYONE had a copy.

AC/DC – Back In Black (1980)

Alanis Morrisette – Jagged Little Pill (1995)

Def Leppard – Pyromania (1983)

Guns N Roses – Appetite for Destruction (1987)

Led Zeppelin – I (1969)

Led Zeppelin – II (1969)

Led Zeppelin IV (1971)

And you might see some of these again if I have a story about one of them.
DISCLAIMER:  THIS IS MY LIST ALONG WITH THE HELP OF OTHERS WHO I CONSIDER KNOWLEDGEABLE IN THE WORLD OF MUSIC.  WITH THAT SAID, THESE ARE ALBUMS WHICH MANY OF YOU, IF NOT ALL OF YOU, KNOW OR ARE FAMILIAR WITH.
PLEASE DO NOT TRY AND ACT ULTRA COOL BY SAYING “Reachin’ (A New Refutation of Time and Space)” by Digable Planets OR “Flipped Out in Singapore” by Chainsaw Kittens are albums that moved you otherwise you look like an elitist jerk dick.

AND its ok to LIKE some of the more popular albums even if you were sipping Starbucks or hating the govt.

OK NOW!!!….lets go

311 – Music (1993)

Aerosmith – Greatest Hits (1980)
Driving around metairie in late 70s early 80s in Billie Jo Dwyers Cadillac with my sister and cousin.

This and Heart’s Greatest Hits (see below) were always on.

Alice In Chains – Dirt (1992)

Allman Brothers Band – LIVE At Fillmore East (1971)

Beastie Boys – Licensed To Ill (1986)

Seriously when this album came out I think everyone had to replace the cassette at least twice due to paying it so much. I can recite every one of these raps verbatum and STILL to this day think “Fight For Your Right” is weakest song on album.

Better than Ezra – Surprise (1989)

Black Sabbath – Black Sabbath (1970)
I remember hearing it over the years but it wasn’t until around 1995 I was sitting around (flying) and really LISTENED to it…..its groundbreaking, amazing, dark, hard and just one of the top 10 albums of all time….
